Winged Faith

Well I am back from New York, what a blast! I loved it there, not that I would want to live there. I missed my wide open spaces.

What I loved:

We loved the people, don't get me wrong there were some wing nuts but for the most part everyone was more than willing to help us out and were polite and kind.

I love the enriched environment. Were else can you feed your brain with arts and culture like that!

Central Park! I wish I had a full day to explore that park. WOW. We wanted to do a handsome cab ride but it was way too hot for the horses so we rented bikes. That was a story all to itself. Riding bikes in the dark going the wrong direction which was HARLEM was an experience. I'll save that for later.

What I did not like:

Cement cement cement.

Bathrooms. Seriously! Public washroom ='d buy some stuff and then you can use it.

For the city that never sleeps and considering it was peek tourist season can you please tell me why all the public art galleries, museums, the zoo all CLOSED BY 5:30! Give me a break! How could I visit all these places when my courses went till 4:30. It was such a shame.

GARBAGE! OMG, how people could stand the garbage and the stench of garbage in the streets. Yuck. I mean I get it, all they have is a sidewalk in front and they put their garbage out at night and they leak on the pavement and..........40 degrees............. eeeeeewwwww.

Anyways, I have a new video for you!

Some exciting news.

So many things have happened in the last month. Some I can tell and some has to wait! One very exciting bit of news however.......... It is official as of Friday that we (École Powerview School and I) were accepted for the ArtsSmarts program for next year. I am so pumped it is insane what we have planned. This time around I will be discreetly posting about it as I go. Last year I wasn't sure if I was allowed to as I was not when I did my public art installation. Different context when the focus is on learning and not the finished work. Myself, however, I can't see why we can't have both, awesome content and fabulous results to show off!

In a whirlwind day I met several people who led me here and there and shamelessly promoted me into a small video production which you will see eventually. So I haven't had time do anything of my own however, I do have footage ready so video will be coming soon. I will keep you posted and here is a little snippet of what is to come.

Happy may long!

Just a pic.

I made this with my scratch paper. You know, the one that you scrape and mix your paint on. Yep. Don't throw that away.

Have another video!

Been really playing around lately. Trying out new techniques. Its been fun, sometimes frustrating of course because it doesn't turn out the way you expect which of course is to be expected, lol.

I have been doing several small canvases which I find I can get my little arty fix and it doesn't take up my whole day. I guess I really should be doing journal pages every day but for some dang reason I just haven't gotten bit by the journal bug but I love them so I don't know why. Maybe that is going to be my challenge. Been thinking of doing some kind of "this" for the day for a month or whatever. Mmmmmm something to think about.

Without further ado, the vid. Hope you enjoy.

I love artrage

I am right into apps for my ipad and iPhone. One that I found recently that I am having lots of fun with is artrage. I actually did a sketch on paper:

then I took a photo of my sketch and loaded it into artrage and started "painting".

Love it!

PS you can get it for your computer too. Check out Artrage.

A video!

A couple of weeks ago this years Strathmoore online series began. Workshop 1 is being hosted by Acrylic painter Robert Joyner. He also has several youtube videos as well and I really enjoy watching them so you should go check them out.

The assignment.......... use paper, water soluable pastels, and acrylic paint while creating with loose and playful brushstrokes. Harder than it looks believe me.

Hope you enjoy my Pears.

Have a lovely weekend. I sure hope the sun comes out soon. I need it.

Hello!

I have to admit that I loved my time away, living. Did not get to do as much as I wanted do art wise. Good things are that I did get two considerable art teaching projects in the last 6 months yay! Better than starving artist but certainly can't hang my other hats. I am not complaining.

I've really been exploring me, the directions I want to go with my art, and enjoying a bit of a reverse back to some old styles and I have really been enjoying abstract lately too. I think I would like to settle somewhere around abstracted realism-ish. LOL

I did have some time to fool around this afternoon and was happy with the results.

Hope to be here soon with a video and some more fun stuff including some workshop announcements.
